What the Jets should do with DeMarco Murray
- by admin
The Jets will start the regular season with a new look, with new players.
But first, they will get a taste of DeMarco “DeMaurice” Murray.
The Jets drafted Murray with the fifth overall pick in the 2015 draft, and the rookie wideout has made a lot of strides since then.
Murray caught 51 passes for 839 yards and eight touchdowns during his first two seasons.
But the Jets have struggled to keep Murray on the field due to injuries, and he has yet to score a touchdown in his first five games of 2017.
Now, the Jets can look to replace Murray, who missed the team’s Week 8 win over the Bills with a shoulder injury.
Murray’s name will be a familiar one on Jets jerseys in 2017.
Murray played in the team uniform for four seasons, including the 2015 season.
Murray signed with the Jets in 2015 and has made some impressive catches for the Jets.
Murray will be part of a revamped offensive line.
The Jets signed free-agent guard Josh Sitton to a four-year deal in March.
The veteran lineman has impressed in camp and will be on the Jets’ roster for the first time.
Sitton, a former All-Pro, is an integral piece of the offense.
The former All Pro averaged 4.9 yards per carry last season, and will help the Jets run the ball more.
The offense will also feature a new tight end.
Newcomer Hunter Henry is coming off a solid rookie campaign.
Henry caught 21 passes for 259 yards and two touchdowns.
He had a pair of receptions for 20 yards in Week 4 against the Bills.
The rookie also caught two passes for 20 on his rookie touchdown.
Henry has made the most of his opportunities.
He caught three passes for 46 yards and caught a touchdown on his first touchdown.
The wideout also caught a short pass and a 39-yard touchdown pass.
The offensive line will be led by center Travis Frederick, who signed a one-year, $3 million deal with the team.
Frederick is coming from the Chicago Bears, where he was a starter last season.
Frederick had a career-high 49 starts, and was the Bears’ top-rated center from 2016-17.
Frederick was a second-team All-NFL pick as a rookie.
He is the Jets third first-round pick.
