How to create a perfect smile for the holidays
- by admin
I’ve been asked many times how to create the perfect smile.
For me, the answer is simple.
I don’t need a formula.
I need to make it happen in the moment.
That’s why, for my makeup, I follow the same routine as every other person.
I start with a neutral base that gives me a light shimmery highlight.
I then use a neutral face brush and a liquid foundation to create some depth and a neutral-toned tint.
This is the part where I get into my best-seller mode and really focus on creating a smile for my customers.
When I have time, I also dab on some blush and apply a layer of bronzer.
I apply the bronzer on top of the highlight and the blush over it.
Finally, I apply a lip tint.
When all the layers are done, I put the lip on top.
Then, I use a lip brush to create an illusion of the lips, which is usually done by using a lip pencil to create soft, thin lines on the lips.
You can also add an effect with a powder to make the lips look larger, but I find the bronzing is so light and the powder so subtle, that it’s easy to forget how it looks.
I’ve never seen anyone use eyeliner on a face in the fashion department.
What you’ll need for this step: Neutral base (I prefer to use a matte foundation as a base because it’s easier to work with) Liquid foundation (this will be the foundation you’ll use for this look) Makeup brushes (I recommend the MAC Brush Brush, which has a light, circular tip) Liquid lipsticks (I find these to be too sheer for this kind of look) Eyeliner (optional) To create this look, I start by adding a neutral eye color to my neutral base.
I dab on the eyeliner and a thin layer of powder over it, then dab the blush on top to give it some dimension.
This creates a subtle, slightly smoky and almost metallic effect.
I’m using the MAC Lipsticks in Pinky Pinky, Pinky Pippin and Pinky Peach to create this effect.
This look is perfect for spring or fall, when people are more likely to be wearing their natural colors.
To achieve the same effect on a cooler day, I dab a bit more on the blush and powder, and then dab a little more on my eyes.
The powder gives the eyes a little bit of depth, while the eyes add a bit of warmth.
For a more dramatic effect, I add a layer to my lips with a lip primer.
I also put on a few layers of blush over the foundation.
This brings out the cheeks and highlights the nose and lips.
I used the MAC Makeup Brushes to create these, and I also used the blush to give them a more pouty appearance.
I added some bronzing and a few lip shadows on top, along with some blush, to create my signature effect.
Makeup tips: I find it helps to apply your blush and lip pencil at different times.
It makes it easier to apply the same shade to different parts of your face.
For example, if you dab on a lighter blush over your cheekbones, then a lighter lip pencil on your lower lip, you’ll end up with the look of an iridescent gold, not a matte one.
You also don’t want to apply any powder to your eyes, as it will give them the look you want.
To make it more of a natural look, dab on your bronzer and apply it to your lips, or blend it into the skin.
Lastly, I added a bit shimmery gloss to my eyes with the MAC Pencil Gloss, but this also works for the cheeks.
You want to make your eyes look like they’re glowing and sparkly.
You don’t have to go overboard with this.
It just makes your eyes pop.
